Sierra Leone launches two new citizenship options

Key changes to Sierra Leone citizenship by investment from 1 October 2026 

Two new routes will become available to applicants without family members. Enterprise Citizenship is designed for two people applying together, while Solo Entrepreneur is for a single applicant.

The Fast-Track Citizenship route will remain available with a $140,000 contribution for the main applicant. A spouse, children and other qualifying family members can be included in the same application.

Enterprise Citizenship: a new option for two applicants

Two adults can submit a single joint application under this option. They may be business partners, colleagues, project partners or simply two applicants who choose to apply together. Family members cannot be included.

Each applicant contributes $80,000. Due diligence for both applicants costs an additional $5,000. If the second applicant attends a separate notary session, an extra $1,000 fee applies.

Solo Entrepreneur: a new option for one applicant

Thy option is available for an individual application without family members. A spouse, children, parents or other relatives cannot be included.

The contribution is $95,000. The applicant also pays a $5,000 due diligence fee.

African ancestry route: $120,000 contribution for the main applicant

The Heritage Program is open to applicants who can confirm African ancestry through a DNA test. The contribution for the main applicant is currently $100,000 and will increase to $120,000 from 1 October 2026. The fee for each qualifying family member will remain unchanged at $10,000.

Applicants will also retain the option to add a Plus One — a person aged 21 or over who is not related to the main applicant. The requirements will be simplified: a Plus One will no longer be processed as a business partner, reducing the amount of information required.

How to obtain Sierra Leone citizenship

Investors can obtain Sierra Leone citizenship by making a non-refundable contribution to the country’s economy. The funds support national development initiatives. The required contribution depends on the chosen route and the number of applicants.
